SUVA, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The Fiji Meteorological Services has issued a warning about the looming threat of drought conditions in the upcoming months in the island nation.

Senior Scientific Officer Arieta Baleisolomone has attributed it to the moderate El Nino weather phenomenon that they have been closely monitoring since the end of last year, reported Fiji Broadcasting Corporation on Wednesday.

Despite nearing the conclusion of this weather pattern, Baleisolomone warned that Fiji should brace for continued impacts over the next few months.

She said the transition from the wet season to drier weather patterns will become increasingly evident in April.

El Nino historically leads to a reduction in rainfall for Fiji, affecting the entire country to different degrees.

The wet season in Fiji is normally from November to April.
