SHENYANG, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Jiang Daishan is a vet at Shenyang Yijia Animal Hospital and a volunteer at Shenyang Raptor Rescue Center. He has engaged in the treatment of raptors and other birds since 2012.
Once injured birds are sent to the hospital, Jiang checks their injuries and performs multiple examinations. From simple medicine feeding to complicated orthopedic surgery, Jiang is able to cope with all kinds of bird injuries, and every year he treats more than 100 injured birds on average.
"I like animals and nature very much. Working as a vet at the center can not only utilize my professional skills but also realize my value," Jiang said.
Shenyang Raptor Rescue Center was established in July 2009 by a group of bird lovers and protectors with various occupations including zoologists, doctors, journalists, teachers, workers, etc. They provide treatment for the raptors and other birds that cannot survive independently in the wild due to natural or human factors in Shenyang and surrounding areas. At present, the center has rescued more than 7,000 wild birds.
Jiang hopes that everyone can contact the police or forestry department in time when they see injured raptors, so that the birds can be timely treated and released to nature.
