VIENTIANE, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Laos' Ministry of Health has made its commitment to Family Planning 2030 (FP2030), a global initiative aimed at ensuring universal access to reproductive healthcare.

The National Commitment to Family Planning 2030 represents a pivotal step in Laos' journey towards achieving universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights by 2030, Lao News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Under the framework of FP2030, Laos is committed to improving access to adolescent and youth-responsive health systems for contraceptive use, ensuring the availability of quality and safe youth-friendly services, and family planning information to reduce the unmet need for family planning among adolescents and young people aged 15 to 24 to 12 percent by 2030.

Other goals are to increase the availability of contraceptives and reproductive health commodities from 53 percent to 100 percent while increasing the family planning fund to support commodity availability at grassroots levels.
