DHAKA, April 1 (Xinhua) -- A Bangladeshi minister said that the South Asian country is expecting increased cooperation with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to bolster its climate actions.

Bangladeshi Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury in a meeting with a senior ADB delegation on Sunday said the country wants 9 billion U.S. dollars for climate actions, mentioning the government's allocation of 3.5 billion dollars, which was earmarked for infrastructure development, disaster management and education.

Chowdhury stressed the need for prioritizing locally led initiatives to better combat climate disasters and focusing on addressing transboundary air pollution, which accounts for 30 percent of air pollution in Bangladesh.
