BEIJING, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Fabio Abreu scored with a spectacular bicycle kick to help Beijing Guoan defeat Wuhan Three Towns 1-0 in the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Saturday.
The two sides didn't break the deadlock until Abreu achieved the impressive goal in the 74th minute. Wuhan tried to create more opportunities offensively in the rest of the game, but the home team failed to turn around the situation in the end.
Wuhan performed poorly with only four shooting attempts throughout the match, 11 less than Beijing.
Beijing's head coach Ricardo Soares praised the team effort after the game: "We did a good job on defense. It is important for us to keep stability."
After the first three rounds of the season so far, Beijing have pocketed two wins plus a draw with a clean sheet and will confront the defending champions, Shanghai Port, next at home on Friday.
Elsewhere, Shanghai Port trounced Henan FC 3-1, while Chengdu Rongcheng and Qingdao West Coast won over Nantong Zhiyun and Qingdao Hainiu respectively, both 1-0. ■
