AMMAN, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Wednesday emphasized the necessity of stopping Israel's offensive in the Gaza Strip, protecting civilians, and respecting international law and humanitarian law.

The minister made the remarks in Amman at a meeting with visiting Tsukasa Uemura, the special envoy of Japan for the Middle East peace, during which they discussed efforts to stop the Israeli actions in the occupied Palestinian territories and Gaza.

Safadi emphasized the necessity of stopping the Israeli military campaign and ensuring the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid to the enclave in a sustainable manner, according to a statement by his ministry.

The minister also expressed appreciation for Japan's supportive stance and voting in favor of the resolution adopted by the United Nations Security Council on Monday, which demands a ceasefire in Gaza during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

For his part, the Japanese envoy praised the efforts by Jordan to push for an end to the conflict, ensure the protection of civilians, and deliver aid to Gaza, as well as its endeavors to achieve security, stability, and peace in the region.
