WASHINGTON, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Scottish winger Lewis Morgan netted a hat-trick as New York Red Bulls romped to a 4-0 home win over Inter Miami in their Major League Soccer (MLS) clash on Saturday.
Morgan opened the scoring with a low drive after Dante Vanzeir's through ball and the pair combined again as the former made it 2-0 following chaotic Inter Miami defending.
The visitors looked rudderless without injured captain Lionel Messi, struggling to attack with any semblance of fluency.
Vanzeir was again the provider as he set up Wikelman Carmona for the Red Bulls' third goal just after the hour.
The hosts were irrepressible and Vanzeir laid off his fourth assist of the game with an inch-perfect cross on the counterattack, allowing Morgan to tap in from close range.
The result leaves New York Red Bulls with 10 points from five outings, behind Inter Miami on goal difference in the 15-team Eastern Conference.
In other fixtures on Saturday, Chicago drew 1-1 at New England, Cincinnati won 1-0 at home to New York City, Real Salt Lake prevailed 2-1 at Vancouver, Orlando City clinched a 2-0 home victory over Austin, Charlotte won 2-0 at home to Columbus, Toronto secured a 2-0 home win over Atlanta United, D.C. United drew 2-2 at St. Louis, and LA Galaxy won 3-2 at Sporting KC. ■
