JAKARTA, March 24 (Xinhua) -- A 5.0-magnitude earthquake rocked off Indonesia's West Papua province on Sunday, the country's meteorology, climatology and geophysics agency said.
The agency reported the quake happened at 18:53 p.m. local time with its epicenter at 63 km northwest of Teluk Bintuni regency and a depth of 27 km.
According to Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesperson A Muhari, the quake did not cause any damage or casualty.
Indonesia, an archipelagic nation, is prone to earthquakes as it sits in a vulnerable quake-hit zone, called the "Pacific Ring of Fire." ■
