GAZA, March 22 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip from the ongoing Israeli attacks exceeded 32,000, the Hamas-run Health Ministry said in a press release on Friday.
During the past 24 hours, the Israeli army killed 82 Palestinians and wounded 110 others in various areas in the coastal enclave, bringing the death toll to 32,070 and injuries to 74,298, said the statement.
The ministry noted that some victims remain under the rubble amid heavy bombardment and a lack of civil defense and ambulance crews.
Meanwhile, a Palestinian gunman was killed and seven Israeli soldiers wounded during an exchange of fire west of the West Bank city of Ramallah, according to Palestinian and Israeli sources.
Israel has been launching a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against the group's rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and more than 200 were taken hostage. ■
