HELSINKI, March 22 (Xinhua) -- A freight train derailed on Friday evening at Arna station near Norway's coastal town of Bergen, Norwegian radio NRK reported.
It said the derailment caused major economic losses, though no injuries were reported.
Freight company Onrail, which owns the train, said that freight trains on the Bergen tracks often carry hazardous materials, which was likely the case with the derailed train as well.
Local police has issued an air pollution alarm and urged people to stay indoors and avoid going to the Arno railway station.
NRK reported that 25 cars went off the tracks. ■
