MOSCOW, March 22 (Xinhua) -- The European Commission's plans to impose tariffs on agricultural products from Russia and Belarus will impact global food security, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Friday.
"They will only aggravate the food situation in the world, which has already been brought to the point of absurdity by the West," Zakharova said on her social media channel.
Earlier at the EU leaders' summit in Brussels, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the commission has begun preparations to introduce tariffs on imported cereals and other agricultural products from Russia and Belarus. ■
