KABUL, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's central bank Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) will sell 15 million U.S. dollars by auction on Saturday in a bid to stabilize the exchange rate of the national currency afghani, the bank said in a statement.

The afghani has been tumbling against foreign currencies, especially the U.S. dollar over the past several months. The exchange rate of 1 U.S. dollar was 72.1 afghanis last week, while it was 71.3 afghanis in local money-changing markets on Thursday.

The DAB has injected millions of U.S. dollars into the country's money-exchanging market over the past months to prevent the fall of afghani against foreign currencies.
