SANAA, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Warplanes from the U.S.-British coalition carried out two airstrikes on a farm in Yemen's Red Sea port city of Hodeidah on Friday, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV and local residents reported.

The airstrikes hit a farm in al-Kadan area in the southern part of the city, al-Masirah TV reported, without mentioning the casualties. Local residents said in social media platforms that the airstrikes targeted Houthi fighters in the farm.

So far, the U.S.-British coalition has not commented on the attack.

On Thursday, the coalition said they destroyed an unmanned boat and two anti-ship ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis toward the Red Sea.

Since November last year, the Houthis have initiated attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, citing retaliation for Israeli strikes in Gaza and showing solidarity with Palestinians as their motives.

After the 2018 UN-sponsored Stockholm agreement, supported by the United States and Britain, the Houthis consolidated their control over the strategic port city of Hodeidah, thwarting attempts by the internationally-recognized Yemeni government forces to retake the city.
