KABUL, March 20 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan caretaker government made considerable achievements in the past 12 months, Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson of the government, said on Wednesday.

The caretaker government has done its best to restore security, increase exports, maintain the stability of the Afghani currency, combat terrorism, and implement development projects across the country, the state-run National Radio and Television quoted the spokesperson as saying.

During the past 12 months, Afghanistan's exports have increased to two billion U.S. dollars, the official noted, adding that the government has paid the salaries of more than one million government employees and offered employment opportunities to Afghans over the past year.

In the wake of the earthquake in Herat province, the government provided assistance to affected families. It has also taken steps to assist forced returnees from Pakistan, the spokesperson said.
