BALKH, Afghanistan, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Afghans devoutly attend mosques during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, dedicating hours to prayers and reflection. As daylight fades, people buy food from street vendors to ensure a satisfying meal or iftar after the end of each day's fast.
The Muslim fasting month of Ramadan commenced on March 11 in Afghanistan.
