Pakistan's food exports surge 54 pct in first 8 months of FY 24

ISLAMABAD, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's food exports in the first eight months of the current fiscal year, starting from July 2023 to June 2024, increased by 54.08 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The exports of various food commodities were recorded at 4.969 billion U.S. dollars during July-February of the ongoing fiscal year, compared to 3.225 billion dollars in July-February of the previous fiscal year, the PBS said on Tuesday.

On a year-on-year basis, the food exports during the month of February 2024 increased by 35.38 percent to 702.469 million dollars compared to exports of 518.871 million dollars in February 2022, the PBS data showed.

Meanwhile, the imports of food commodities during the period under review came down from 6.687 billion dollars to 5.461 billion dollars, showing a decline of 18.33 percent, according to PBS.
