101 killed in road accidents in Laos in February

VIENTIANE, March 19 (Xinhua) -- A total of 101 people were killed in road accidents across Laos in February, up by 16 from the same period in 2023.

According to a report from the local Pasaxon newspaper on Tuesday, Laos recorded a total of 630 incidents nationwide, resulting in 1,192 injuries, 101 fatalities, and 1,387 vehicles damaged in February.

Lao capital Vientiane reported the highest number of road accidents during the cited month, followed by Champasak and Vientiane provinces.

The primary causes of the accidents were identified as driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, sudden changes in direction, overtaking, and general violation of traffic regulations.
