YANGON, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar aims to plant 700,000 acres of rain-fed paddy with 140 billion kyats (about 66.6 million U.S. dollars) of state economic promotion fund in the 2024-25 fiscal year (FY), according to the state-run Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV).

Efforts were being made to get 200,000 kyats (about 95.23 dollars) per acre for inputs, MRTV said, citing agriculture official Myo Kyaw Thu.

Inputs needed by farmers will also be provided in cooperation with regional and state supervisory committees, companies and associations, he said.

Through participation in the state economic promotion fund, farmers will have access to inputs without having to worry about capital. By adding these inputs, crop acreage increases, leading to higher yields.

Additionally, buyers, millers, and exporters associations are already lined up to purchase the crops, thereby increasing income and improving socioeconomic conditions.

In the fiscal year 2023-24, farmers planted over 671,000 acres of rain-fed paddy across the country, the report said.
