ROTTERDAM, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Sun Long emerged victorious in the men's 1,500m of the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships on Saturday for China's 100th gold medal at the tournament.
The 23-year-old has crossed the second in 2:23.009 in Final A, but top finisher Hwang Dae-heon of South Korea was penalized after video review just minutes later, handing gold to Sun.
"It's a great honor to win the 100th gold for China. As we have said many times before, you can always believe in China's short track speed skating team," Sun said after the final.
Local skater Jens van't Wout timed 2:23.260 to take the silver, while Australia's Brendan Corey finished third in 2:23.428. ■
