JAKARTA, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Two foreign nationals on the Indonesian holiday island of Bali were killed on Thursday after the villa they were staying in was hit by a landslide, police told local media.
The accommodation situated in Penebel in Tabanan Regency was swept away by severe rain on Thursday, an area prone to flooding and landslides in the rainy season.
Penebel Police Chief I Gusti Kade Alit Mudiarsa said that one of the deceased had been identified to be an Australian woman. She was killed alongside her traveling partner whose national identity remained unknown, said Mudiarsa, adding that the two victims have been transferred to a hospital in Denpasar, Bali's capital.
Indonesia frequently experiences hydrometeorological disasters during the rainy season. ■
