KABUL, March 13 (Xinhua) -- The construction work of 179 development projects with a cost of over 4 million U.S. dollars has been completed and put into operation in west Afghanistan's Herat province, according to the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.
The projects include construction of retaining walls, culverts, roads, and water canals that funded by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), the ministry said.
With these projects, living conditions of thousands of people in Herat province have improved, the ministry added.
A 6.3-magnitude tremor and aftershocks struck Herat province last October, causing casualties and leaving many people homeless. ■
