RANCAGUA, Chile, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Chile's Palestino progressed to the Copa Libertadores group stage here on Tuesday by beating Paraguay's Club Nacional on penalties.
Gonzalo Sosa, Misael Davila and Felipe Chamorro converted their spot-kicks in the shootout while Jordan Santacruz, Brian Blasi and Sergio Ojeda missed their attempts for the Asuncion-based club.
Nacional had looked on track for victory after Diego Duarte, Orlando Gaona and Juan Fernando Alfaro scored to give their side a 3-2 overall lead.
But the tie was forced into a shootout after an 84th-minute strike from Cristian Suarez drew Palestino level on aggregate.
The group stage of South America's premier club competition will run from March 18 to May 30. ■
