ISLAMABAD, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal said on Tuesday that the newly-formed government is deliberating on a comprehensive roadmap to transform the economic future of the South Asian country.

"The ambitious goal is to transform Pakistan into a 100-billion-dollar export-oriented economy within the next seven to eight years. This is the government's top priority right now," the minister said while addressing the media.

The government is committed to bringing advancements in agriculture, industry and production processes, which is crucial for achieving national economic development and global competitiveness, he said, expressing confidence in overcoming obstacles and leading the nation towards economic stability.

"The future of Pakistan hinges on the growth of key sectors such as agriculture, industry, services, and the adoption of technological advancements," he said.

Speaking about the upcoming priority action plan, Iqbal outlined a concrete strategy to generate employment opportunities through meticulous planning, while highlighting the need for modern infrastructure development to lay the foundation for a prosperous future.
