SOFIA, March 8 (Xinhua) -- A "Women in Tech" training program aimed at addressing the digital skills gap was launched here on Friday.
The initiative was welcomed by women from all over Bulgaria. It is the result of a partnership between Bulgaria's Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the University of Telecommunications and Post, and Huawei Technologies Bulgaria.
More than 600 women have signed up to participate in the program, which is open to any woman who wants to learn basic digital skills, regardless of her current job, education or social status.
The youngest applicant is 18 years old, and the oldest is 78.
Bulgaria's Vice President Iliana Iotova, the first ambassador for the initiative, said she was glad that there are so many women willing to participate.
"I am also very happy to see young people who want to develop themselves," Iotova said, adding that she is confident that the "Women in Tech" program will be very successful. ■
