COLOMBO, March 7 (Xinhua) -- The All Share Price Index (ASPI) of Sri Lanka's Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) surpassed 11,000 points on Thursday for the first time since October 5, 2023, local media reported quoting CSE data.

The ASPI closed at 11,045.90 points at the end of trading, marking an increase of 1.51 percent from the previous day, CSE data showed.

Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 closed at 3,147.45 points, up by 1.52 percent from the previous day, CSE data showed.

More than 160 million shares were traded, and the market turnover topped 2.63 billion rupees (about 8.5 million U.S. dollars), according to CSE data.

The ASPI measures the movements of the overall market, while the S&P SL20 follows the performance of 20 leading publicly traded companies listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
