DAKAR, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Senegalese President Macky Sall has set March 24 as the new date of the first round of the presidential election, said a press release of the Council of Ministers published Wednesday evening.
The announcement came after the Constitutional Council ruled Wednesday evening that any date for the presidential election after April 2 is contrary to the Constitution, and noted that the current president's term cannot exceed this date.
During the meeting of Council of Ministers, Sall also announced the dissolution of the government and appointed Sidiki Kaba as the new prime minister, replacing Amadou Ba. ■
