YANGON, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized over 2.6 million stimulant tablets in southern Myanmar, the state-run media Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) reported on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotic police searched a boat in the sea about 5 nautical miles northwest of White Sand Island in Pathein township of Ayeyarwady region on March 1, and confiscated the drugs, the report said.

The seized drugs are worth over 5.2 billion kyats (about 2.476 million U.S. dollars).

The suspects who were involved in the case were charged under the country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, it said.
