BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Two foreigners were arrested for overstaying in Brunei in a joint operation by government departments of Brunei Darussalam, according to an official media report on Tuesday.
Law enforcers from the Immigration and National Registration Department, and other departments launched a joint operation and inspected more than 200 foreign nationals in several local commercial buildings, according to the Pelita Brunei, Brunei's official media.
Twenty-three foreign nationals have been detained for further investigation due to failure to provide valid documents, among whom two foreign nationals have been charged and sentenced to months of jail, and fined, according to the media report. ■
