WARSAW, March 5 (Xinhua) -- A tracked military vehicle ran over two soldiers Tuesday morning during exercises in northwest Poland's Drawsko Pomorskie, with one killed and the other seriously injured, local prosecutor's office said.

"I confirm that one of the soldiers in the accident has died, and the other one is in serious condition," Lukasz Wawrzyniak, a spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Poznan, told the Polish Press Agency.

The military police and prosecutors are on site in Drawsko Pomorskie in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship for procedural activities to determine the cause of the tragedy, he added.

The injured soldier was taken by air ambulance to the University Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Szczecin, the capital of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.

"The patient is in a state of immediate threat to life," said hospital spokeswoman Joanna Woznicka.

According to Jacek Piotrowski, a spokesman for the first Warsaw Armored Brigade, the accident occurred at the training ground in Drawsko Pomorskie, where the exercises were going on.

However, he noted that the drill was not part of the Dragon-24 maneuvers conducted currently under the large North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) war game Steadfast Defender 2024.
