Seven teams secure final spots for Paris 2024 table tennis competition

BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) -- The latest ITTF world team ranking released on Monday has allocated the last seven spots for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, with three men's and four women's teams having clinched their positions.

According to the rules, the highest-ranked teams not yet qualified in the latest world team ranking booked their tickets to Paris 2024.

In the women's event, India, Poland, Sweden and Thailand have earned their Olympic places, while on the men's side, Croatia, India and Slovenia have secured their spots.

Quarterfinalists at last month's ITTF World Team Championships Finals in Busan booked their tickets to Paris, with the unused quotas of the teams already qualified being reallocated to the March 2024 ITTF world team ranking.

The 16 men's teams to compete at the Paris Olympics are Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Croatia, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Japan, South Korea, Portugal, Slovenia and Sweden.

The 16 women's participating sides are Australia, Brazil, China, Chinese Taipei, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Japan, South Korea, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Thailand, the United States and Hong Kong, China.

The ITTF said that players will be seeded using the ITTF table tennis world rankings published in July.
