BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Located on the western edge of Tian'anmen Square, the Great Hall of the People is among the structures built in the Chinese capital to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the People's Republic of China in 1959.
The landmark building represents more than just a grand architectural complex. It is the main venue of the annual meetings of China's top legislature and political advisory body, known as the "two sessions," which serve to build up consensus and pool strength for the country's modernization drive.
