ALGIERS, Feb. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced on Thursday the finalization of an agreement with Vladimir Petkovic to lead the national football team.
The Bosnian-born Swiss coach succeeded Djamel Belmadi. In a statement, the FAF said that 60-year-old Petkovic, renowned for his coaching roles with the Swiss national team, and stints with Italian club Lazio and French club Bordeaux, will arrive in Algeria on Sunday to sign his contract.
This decision follows Belmadi's contract termination after the Desert Foxes' early exit from the recent Africa Cup of Nations.
Petkovic is also due to hold a press conference in Algiers next Monday, the source added. ■
