MADRID, Feb. 29 (Xinhua) -- Two brilliant goals from the Williams brothers, Inaki and Nico, set Athletic Bilbao on the way to a 3-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal to qualify for the final 4-0 on aggregate.
First it was Nico who set up his brother Inaki after 13 minutes. The younger of the two brothers worked space on the left and crossed to the far post for Inaki to score with a spectacular volley that gave goalkeeper Jan Oblak no chance.
Atletico Madrid created chances, with Samuel Lino side-footing straight at home keeper Julen Agirrezabala in the opening moments and Mario Hermoso heading over after a corner.
Lino was a constant threat for the visitors, and Angel Correa should have done better than fire over from his pass from the left.
Nico was close to a second goal at the other end of the pitch as he curled the ball just wide from a pass from Inaki, but in the 42nd minute the pair combined again with Inaki skipping past Hermoso and squaring for his brother to score from the edge of the six-yard box.
Atletico had to come out of the blocks quickly at the start of the second half, which was delayed for 10 minutes after a medical emergency in the stands. However, Athletic Bilbao had the game completely under control and should have made it 3-0 when Nico broke into space and set up Oihan Sancet, who fired over.
The third goal came after a patient move saw Sancet shoot from a tight angle, and after Oblak could only parry, Gorka Guruzeta was on hand to score from close range and end any lingering doubts about who will play Mallorca on April 6. ■
