KUALA LUMPUR, Feb. 29 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's Capital A, formerly AirAsia Group, has returned to the black in the financial year ending Dec. 31, 2023, as its revenue more than doubled.

The firm said in a bourse filing on Thursday that it posted a net profit of 836.99 million ringgit (176 million U.S. dollars), as compared to a net loss of 2.63 billion ringgit a year ago.

The firm's revenue for the year more than doubled to 14.77 billion ringgit from 6.44 billion ringgit a year ago, mainly attributed to the strong recovery in demand from both domestic and international travel.

On aviation outlook, the firm said with a target of full aircraft reactivation by mid-year and nine additional aircraft, it expects to achieve 90 percent of its pre-pandemic capacity.

The firm also plans to launch more than 60 new routes, expanding in China and India, and start AirAsia Cambodia operations in the middle of 2024.
