RIGA, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- In 2023, the average gross monthly wage in Latvia grew by 11.9 percent year-on-year to 1,537 euros (1,670 U.S. dollars), the national statistics office said Wednesday.
The minimum monthly wage grew by 24 percent to reach 620 euros.
Andrejs Migunovs, an economist at the Bank of Latvia, said that Latvian consumers' purchasing power continued to recover in 2023, as average pay across all sectors rose faster than inflation.
Wage growth slowed somewhat during the last quarter of 2023, the economist said. (1 euro = 1.08 U.S. dollars) ■
