JAKARTA, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo said on Wednesday that the country is unlikely to fall into recession given its strong domestic economic growth and tightly managed inflation.

"We should be grateful since Indonesia's probability is still 1.5 percent, and we need to keep it there," Widod sid in front of military superiors in Jakarta.

With inflation kept under control at 2.57 percent, and poverty and unemployment declining to 9.36 percent and 5.32 percent, respectively, Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product expanded by 5.05 percent in 2023.

But in the face of intense international competition and uncertainty, as well as rising food prices, Widodo urged citizens to exercise caution.

"Very complex global challenges can also greatly affect domestic social and economic conditions. We are aware that there is still a great deal of economic uncertainty. World geopolitics are difficult to calculate," he said.
