SYDNEY, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- A male suspect has been arrested in Australia's Sydney after a shooting in the city's central business district left one person injured on Wednesday.
According to a statement by the New South Wales Police Force, at about 12:50 p.m. local time, emergency services were called to a building on the Castlereagh Street in central Sydney, following reports of a person being shot.
Officers found a man at the scene, who was believed to be suffering a gunshot wound.
"The man is being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and first responders," the authority noted, without revealing further details on his condition.
As a crime scene has been established in the city center, members of the public were advised to avoid the area to allow emergency services access and egress.
"A man has been arrested and there is no further ongoing threat to the community," police confirmed in the statement. ■
