JERUSALEM, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Israeli defense electronics company Elbit Systems will supply major advanced systems for the Australian Army's Redback infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), the company said in a statement on Monday.

The statement added that the total deal, at about 600 million U.S. dollars, is part of Australia's Land 400 Phase 3 acquisition project, which aims to deliver advanced protection, fighting capabilities, and sensors suite to the IFVs.

As part of the contract, Australia's IFVs will be equipped with Elbit's 30 mm manned turrets with gunner sights, electro-optic and laser warning systems, Iron Fist active protection, and IronVision head-mounted display systems for situational awareness.

Elbit partnered in the project with the Redback manufacturer Hanwha Defense Australia. It is a subsidiary of South Korean Hanwha Defense Corporation, maker of the K21 IFV, from which the Redback is derived.

Founded in 1966, Elbit Systems is located in the northern Israeli city of Haifa, and it engages in various sectors, including aerospace, land, and naval systems, as well as command, control, communications, and intelligence surveillance.
