NEW DELHI, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- At least nine people, including two women, died in an accident involving three vehicles, in India's eastern state of Bihar late on Sunday evening, confirmed a local government official on Monday.
The road mishap occurred in Bihar's Kaimur district when a car hit a road divider while trying to save a motorbike rider and then rammed into a truck coming from the opposite direction.
The car involved in the accident was enroute to Varanasi town of the northern state of Uttar Pradesh from the Sasaram district of Bihar. All eight persons aboard the car and the motorbike rider died in the accident.
The mishap took place near Devkali village along the National Highway No. 2.
Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed condolences at the loss of human lives in the accident. ■
