BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Brunei Darussalam on Saturday held a celebration to commemorate the 40th anniversary of independence.
Parade and performances were held at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei Darussalam. Brunei's Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah attended the celebration.
The Southeast Asian country is renowned for its beautiful tropical landscapes, abundant oil and natural gas resources.
The Bruneian government has been committed to promoting economic diversification. ■
