BEIJING, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.55 percent to 3,004.88 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.28 percent higher at 9,069.42 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices totaled 922 billion yuan (about 129.7 billion U.S. dollars), up from 822.4 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks rose across the board, with shares in the ceramic industry leading the gains.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.02 percent to close at 1,758.19 points Friday. ■
