KUALA LUMPUR, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's inflation in January remained at 1.5 percent, the same rate since November 2023, official data showed Friday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia said in a statement that the food and beverages group, which contributes 29.8 percent of total consumer price index (CPI) weight, recorded a moderate increase of 2 percent in January.
The transport group also increased slower at 0.7 percent in January.
Core inflation increased slower at 1.8 percent but still surpassed the overall national inflation rate of 1.5 percent. ■
