YANGON, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's authorities have seized 204 kg of raw opium in the country's eastern state of Shan, the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control said in a statement on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotic police searched a vehicle in Loilem town in Shan state on Saturday and found the drugs in burlap bags on the vehicle.
The seized drugs had a street value of 61.2 million kyats (about 29,142 U.S. dollars), the committee said.
Two suspects were arrested in the case, and they were charged under the country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, it added. ■
