SANAA, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi group announced Monday evening that they have launched missile attacks against two U.S. ships in the Gulf of Aden, saying the hits were "accurate."

"The naval forces of the (Houthi) armed forces carried out two qualitative military attacks against two American ships in the Gulf of Aden, the first ship called Sea Champion, while the other called Navis Fortuna," Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said in a televised statement aired by the group's satellite TV channel al-Masirah.

"We carried out the attacks with a number of naval missiles, and the hits were accurate and direct," Sarea said, without specifying the damages or casualties.

The attack has brought the total number of the group's attacks during the past 24 hours to four, including one targeting a British ship, which resulted in its complete sinking, and one targeting an American aircraft in the airspace of Hodeidah governorate, while the last two attacks targeted two American ships, according to the Houthis.
