MOGADISHU, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) said Tuesday that it has begun a three-day capacity-building program for the Somali security forces on business relationship management and digital transformation.

The UNSOS, which has been actively supporting Somalia in enhancing the capabilities of the security forces, said a closer working relationship between the UN body and Somali government is crucial in the ongoing transition process.

Head of the UNSOS Aisa Kirabo Kacyira said at a meeting held in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, that technological tools are important for improving business processes and enhancing field operations.

"I hope this inaugural workshop will strengthen collaboration with the Somali security forces to drive innovation and maximize the potential of emerging technologies," Kacyira told the participants.

According to Kacyira, the end-state is to co-create innovative solutions and support a digital workforce with the requisite skills, know-how and tools to support Somali sovereign institutions effectively in their day-to-day operations.

The UN and its partners in Somalia have stepped up training of the Somali security forces ahead of the withdrawal of 4,000 of its troops from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia later this year.
