TEHRAN, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Iran's police have arrested two individuals for involvement in a deadly "terrorist" attack last December on a police headquarters in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan, the official news agency IRNA reported on Friday.
The two, identified as members of the Jaish al-Zulm "terror" group that claimed responsibility for the attack in Rask County, were arrested following the police forces' technical and intelligence monitoring, IRNA quoted Iran's police spokesman Saeed Montazer-al-Mahdi as saying, without specifying the date of the detentions.
Eleven policemen were killed and seven others injured on Dec. 15, 2023, in the attack on the police headquarters in Rask.
Montazer-al-Mahdi said four other members of the "terrorist" group had been detained over the past weeks for involvement in the same attack.
The Jaish al-Zulm group is a separatist cell that Iran says is linked with al-Qaeda and has carried out several "acts of terror" against Iranian security forces and civilians over the past years. ■
