KHARTOUM, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's Foreign Ministry on Thursday stressed the government's commitment to facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected by the ongoing war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
"The state's policy is to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas and all citizens without any obstacles and exception," the ministry said in a statement.
It refuted media reports that the Sudanese government is blocking the delivery of humanitarian assistance to some areas in Sudan, while renewing the Sudanese government's commitment to the Jeddah Declaration of Commitment to Protect the Civilians, signed on May 11, 2023, and the related humanitarian commitments.
It also accused the RSF of hindering the movement and delivery of aid to needy people in many areas of the country and of looting the warehouses of the World Food Programme.
The ministry called on the international community to oblige the RSF to implement what was agreed on through the Jeddah platform, and evacuate all humanitarian, service and civil facilities as well as citizens' homes.
Sudan has been witnessing deadly clashes between the SAF and the RSF since April 15, 2023. More than 13,000 people have been killed since the fighting broke out, according to recent estimates released by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. ■
