YANGON, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's authorities have seized 240,000 stimulant tablets and 9.8 kilograms of raw opium in the central regions of Myanmar, said a release by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Thursday.

Acting on a tipoff, anti-narcotic police searched a vehicle in Minhla township of Magway region on Tuesday and found 240,000 stimulant tablets worth 480 million kyats (about 228,571 U.S. dollars), the committee said.

According to the committee reports, 9.8 kg of raw opium worth 14.7 million kyats (about 7,000 dollars) was seized from a passenger vehicle that was going from Mandalay to Katha in Sagaing region on Wednesday.

The suspects involved in the cases were charged under the country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, it said.
