DHAKA, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Nepal has shown keen interest in using Bangladesh's Chattogram, Mongla, and Payra seaports to facilitate the import and export of goods.
Nepali Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari held discussions with Bangladesh's State Minister of Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury in Dhaka on Tuesday to convey Nepal's enthusiasm for this collaboration, the Dhaka Tribune reported.
Following the meeting, the state minister informed the press that discussions would ensue over the next two to three months regarding the use of a 23-km stretch of land in India to establish a connection with Nepal.
He said both nations were actively deliberating on expanding commercial activities through these ports, with high-level engagements at the prime ministerial level.
"We are placing significant emphasis on this matter," Khalid added. ■
