BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Three-time Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka advanced to the last 16 of the ATP 250 Argentina Open on Monday with a 6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-2 win over local favorite Pedro Cachin.
The Swiss hit 10 aces and won 83 percent of his first service points to prevail in two hours and 22 minutes on the outdoor clay of the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club. He will meet third seed Nicolas Jarry of Chile in the next round.
Meanwhile, sixth seed Tomas Etcheverry of Argentina progressed by easing past Spain's Roberto Carballes 6-4, 6-1.
In other matches on Monday, Argentina's Facundo Diaz beat Daniel Altmaier of Germany 6-3, 7-6 and Serbia's Laslo Djere overcame Marin Cilic of Croatia 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Top seed Carlos Alcaraz of Spain will begin his quest for back-to-back titles on Wednesday when he meets the winner of the match between Camilo Carabelli and Juan Pablo Varillas. ■
